Preparations for Polish project – widening work

Widening work for Poland’s A2 highway will be carried out between the Lodz Polnoc Junction and Konotopa Junction. The 88km highway stretch will benefit from the addition of an extra lane in either direction. Between Polnoc and Pruszkow this will result in a third lane being added in either direction.     The debt owed by the Spanish Government’s Ministry of Works to infrastructure firm, Abertis, for the expansion of the AP-7 road in Catalonia stood at €1.07 billion (US$1.39bn) by the end of 2012 – an increase of 40.7% in just one year.     Work has started on a €136 million road improvement project on the UK’s London ring road, the M25 motorway. Crews from Balfour Beatty and Skanska have moved onto the interchange between the A13 national road and the M25 at junction 30 near Thurrock in the county Essex.   • Polish expressway project gets go ahead

    With the official go ahead being given for a new expressway in Poland’s southern Silesia Region, tendering can now commence. This last stretch of the S1 expressway will run from Bielsko-Biala to Zwardon and will measure 8.5km long. Tendering is now starting for the project, which is expected to cost in the region of €351.25 million and should take two years to build. This new road project forms part of the 2014-2023 National Road Construction Programme.

    The Polish government said that it will complete the final 80km section of the A1 motorway at a cost of around €830 million. Money will come out of the National Road fund (KFD), according to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Construction.
