Preparations for Polish project – widening work

Widening work for Poland’s A2 highway will be carried out between the Lodz Polnoc Junction and Konotopa Junction. The 88km highway stretch will benefit from the addition of an extra lane in either direction. Between Polnoc and Pruszkow this will result in a third lane being added in either direction.   • 2018 finish for Lithuania’s E 67 Via Baltica Kaunas-Marijampole stretch

    Widening a Lithuanian stretch of the Via Baltica from Kaunas to Marijampole to four lanes should be completed this year, the government said. Transport Minister Rokas Masiulis also said that the highway – also known as the pan-European E 67 - from Marijampole to the Polish border would be reconstructed by 2022. He said safety issues – 42 fatalities in the past 10 years - prompted the widening at a cost of nearly €90 million.

  • Polish programme of road development

    A series of major road projects is now getting underway in Poland, while tenders for new projects are also opening. Estimates suggest that the construction of six new ring-roads in the Opolszczyzna region will cost some €356 million. These ring roads all form part of the 2014-2023 National Road Construction Programme. The first projects to be carried out will be for the ring-roads around Mysliny and Niemodlina. In all, the National Road Construction Programme will include the building of 57 ring-roads.
