PPP contract for Moc Bai Expressway?

Ho Chi Minh City, capital of Vietnam, is seeking approval from the central government for a public-private partnership format for the Moc Bai Expressway contract.

Total cost of the Ho Chi Minh City-Moc Bai Expressway project is expected to be around US$835 million, according to a report in the Saigon Times newspaper. The expressway's first phase will begin at the intersection with Beltway No. 3 in the city’s Cu Chi District and end at the intersection of National Highway 22 within the Ben Cau District in Tay Ninh Province.

The expressway is about 50km long, of which the section through Ho Chi Minh City is 23,7km and the section through Tay Ninh is 26,3km.  Currently, the Trans-Asia route - national highway 22 - is the only national highway connecting Ho Chi Minh City with the Moc Bai international border crossing into Cambodia.

The Bavet border crossing in Svay Rieng Province, Cambodia, lies across from Moc Bai. The highway is currently is the main route Ho Chi Minh City and the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh, making it one of the busiest land entry points into Vietnam.
