Polish road tenders being planned

A series of road project tenders are being planned by Poland’s roads authority, GDDKiA. These are expected to open before the end of 2019 and will have a combined value of close to €2.8 billion in all. The project tenders will be for a total distance of 250km of road development works. SacyrA series of road project tenders are being planned by Poland’s roads authority, 1361 GDDKiA. These are expected to open before the end of 2019 and will have a combined value of close to €2.8 billion in all. The project tenders will be for a total distance of 250km of road development works.

Four stretches of the S5 route will benefit from improvements, between Nowe Marzy and Dworzysko, from Dworzysko to Aleksandrowo, between Biale Blota and Szubin and from Wirwajdy to Ornowo. Work will be carried out on two sections of the S61 route between Ostrow Mazowiecka and Sniadowo, and from the Augustow bypass to the border with Lithuania. Stretches of the S7 will see upgrades, between Plonsk and Czosnow and from Moczydlo to Miechow. Work will be carried out on the S19 route between Rzeszow Poludnie and Babica and on the S16 route between Borki Wielkie and Mragowo.

One key stretch is for a 41km section of the S14 dual carriageway, which will link the A2 highway with the S8 dual carriageway and which will constitute Lodz's western ring-road. According to declarations of the Polish Infrastructure and Development Ministry, work on the S14 project will commence in 2016.

    In Poland, the European Investment Bank has committed itself to maintaining its loan agreement for the A1 highway, despite recent problems over the project. The e1.1 billion loan that the EIB had agreed with Autostrada Poludnie for construction of a 180km section of the A1 highway from Strykow to Pyrzowice, will now be placed at the disposal of the Polish highway authorities.     Work is now complete on Lithuania’s Panevėžys bypass, which has been widened so that it features three lanes in either direction. This 22km road rebuilding project was carried out by local contractor, Panevezio Keliai, in a deal worth €44.6 million.
