Polish road building programme in hand

Poland’s road authority GDDKiA has signed 13 road deals and has secured European financing worth a combined total of €1.91 billion. These works are being carried out from 2014-20. The available EU finance in the current perspective allocated to GDDKiA's projects stands at close to €10 billion. Poland’s road investment programme for 2014-23 includes building at least 3,900km of roads and 57km of ring roads.

    Construction of a 15.2km section of Poland’s A1 motorway has attracted 11 bids. A Strabag consortium made the lowest bid for the section, between Pyrzowice and Rzasawa, coming in at €146 million. A consortium formed by Polaqua and Dragados was the second lowest, at €156.4 million. The highest bid was €183.4 million. The contract calls for a construction period of 30 months.   • UK government pledges pothole pounds

    The UK government will hand out to a number of councils in England extra money for pothole repairs, said Chris Grayling, transport secretary. Around €125 million will be shared out, with the south-west county of Devon getting the lion’s share – nearly €5.2 million. The funding is in addition to €86 million Pothole Action Fund and the almost €7 billion set aside for improving local roads across the entire UK.

    The Mexican Government plans to invest some US$13.72 billion in all into 46 motorway construction projects. Work on these new routes will be carried out during the current administration.     The tender has now been published by the Israel National Roads Company for the upgrade to Road No 85, a project expected to cost US$134.2 million (500 million NIS). The work includes widening and building an interchange on Roads No 85, which along with improvements to Road No 65 forms a key component of the Netivei Israel plan.
