Poland commits to more S17 work, including Chelm bypass

Poland has approved financing for two road projects worth nearly €1.2 billion in total, including a ring road around Chelm. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Construction said there will also be dual carriageway section for the S17 between Piaski and Hrebenne.

Poland has approved financing for two road projects worth nearly €1.2 billion in total, including a ring road around Chelm.

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Construction said there will also be dual carriageway section for the S17 between Piaski and Hrebenne.

Chełm, an industrial city with around 65,000 people, is  south-east of Lublin and around 25km from the border with Ukraine.

The Expressway S17 runs from Warsaw through Lublin to the border with Ukraine at Hrebenne/Rava-Ruska. It runs parallel to National Road 17 which it will eventually replace.

    Great interest has been shown in tenders advertised by GDDKiA to build three sections of the S3 dual carriageway in Poland. A total of 18 bids were received from firms and consortia for the first section, which measures 14.4km and extends from the Kazmierzow junction to Lubin North.
