Paraguay project agreement reached

An agreement has been reached for the projects to widen Route 2 and Route 7 in Paraguay by the various bodies involved. The Consorcio Rutas del Este joint venture partners have agreed terms with the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), UBS and the Ministries of Public Works and Communications and Finance. An agreement has been reached for the projects to widen Route 2 and Route 7 in Paraguay by the various bodies involved. The Consorcio Rutas del Este joint venture partners have agreed terms with the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), UBS and the Ministries of Public Works and Communications and Finance. UBS is providing financing worth US$250 million while the IADB is providing $200 million. Consorcio Rutas del Este, which comprises Sacyr, Mota Engil and Ocho A, is providing $83 million meanwhile. Construction work will commence in July 2019 close to Caaguazú and the project is being handled under the PPP model.

The project will see the construction of an improved road link measuring 120km connecting Yagyi with Kalewa. The work is expected to take three years to complete and will include the construction of three large bridges as well as two small bridges.
  • Planned Paraguay PPP project postponed

    Bidding for Paraguay’s route II and route VII Ypacarai-Pastoreo road expansion project has been postponed. Instead Paraguay’s Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) says that the bidding will commence on 29th June 2016. This delay follows requests by some participants in this process. However, this is the fourth time that the opening of the bidding for the project has been delayed.

    New road projects are planned for Panama. Contracts have been awarded by the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) worth some US$194.4 million.
