Paraguay bridge deal agreed

A funding package is being provided for the second bridge crossing the Parana River in Paraguay.

A funding package is being provided for the second bridge crossing the Parana River in Paraguay. Itaipu Binacional is to provide a financing package worth US$75 million for this project. The bridge is expected to cost $180 million in all to construct. The bridge will be 3.5km in length, connecting Asuncion with Chaco'i. In addition, Itaipu Binacional is providing the necessary financing for another bridge connecting Carmelo Peralta with Puerto Murtinho.

    Paraguay is commencing the tender process for the first section of the bi-oceanic corridor project. The plans have been announced by the Public Works and Communications Ministry.     Plans are proceeding on Paraguay’s project to construct the country’s new bi-oceanic corridor. The tender process to construct the 227km route from Carmelo Peralta to Loma Plata has attracted bids from four consortia. The four consortia are: China Machinery Industry Construction Group (Sinoconst); Consorcio Corredor Vial Bioceanico; Jose Cartellone Construcciones Civiles; and Consorcio Bioceanico.
