Paraguay-Brazil bridge project planned

Bidding is opening for the bridge project intended to connect Paraguay and Brazil. The bridge will span the Paraguay River, connecting Carmelo Peralta in Paraguay with Puerto Murthino in Brazil. The project will connect Route 267 in Brazil with the Py15 route in Paraguay. However the latter is a minor road and will have to be upgraded to allow it to carry the volumes of traffic anticipated.

    Paraguay is commencing the tender process for the first section of the bi-oceanic corridor project. The plans have been announced by the Public Works and Communications Ministry. Work on the first section of the bi-oceanic corridor will be carried out between Carmelo Peralta and Loma Plata. The project is expected to cost in the region of US$315 million.     Work to upgrade a section of Paraguay’s Route 8 between Caazapa and Yuty is finally close to completion. The work to improve the 73km section of the highway is some two years behind schedule.
