Additional funding will be required for Papua New Guinea’s (PNG) transport improvement plans to be realised. The plans call for US$5.7 billion of works being carried out over the next two decades.
However, the Planning and Monitoring Department of Papua New Guinea has said that the existing funds will not be sufficient for all of the priority projects to be delivered. Discussions are being held with key stakeholders at present to help the plans move forward as intended. The transport upgrades are required to boost connectivity as the new links will encourage further economic development.
