North Germany is planning a major road repair programme

In Germany North Rhine-Westphalia is planning a major programme of road repairs and maintenance works. Upgrading and widening work will also be carried out. A massive budget of €20 billion has been set for the work, which will be carried out on the key Autobahn and Bundesstrasse (highway and key trunk route) links in the area. In all, 200 projects are being planned for the state.

    A programme of bridge repairs and upgrades is being planned by the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket). The work is expected to cost €960 million and will see around 850 bridges being improved.     Plans are in hand for road widening work and surfacing upgrades for a key route crossing Zimbabwe. The highway upgrade is being carried out by a joint venture partnership between Chinese firm China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) and Austrian Company Geiger International.
