New Paraguay road links

New road links are planned for Paraguay.

A series of road projects will now be carried out in Paraguay. Funding for the works will be provided through the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB). The US$235 million loan will be for work to improve 104km of roads in the Santa Cecilia, Campo Aceval, Paratodo and Lolita areas of Paraguay.

The IADB is providing $185 million of the finance package itself, with a further $50 million coming via South Korean sources over which the IADB has control.

Meanwhile, the tender process is opening for a 188km road project for an agricultural area. The work will cost an estimated $146.3 million. The tender process is being handled by Paraguay’s Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC).

    Interest is strong in Brazil’s BR-101 highway project. The tender for the project will open on 18th January 2012. According to Brazil's Land Transport Agency (ANTT), at least six groups, most Brazilian, have shown interest in the project.
