New expressways planned for China’s Guangxi Province

New expressway works are being planned for China’s Guangxi Province.

A massive programme of road construction is being planned in China’s Guangxi Province. The plans call for 30 new expressway links to be built.

Financing worth US$21.43 billion is being set in place to pay for the works, which will commence in 2021. In all the 30 expressways will total 2,109km in length and by the end of 2021, Gunangxi Province will have a total expressway network of 7,300km.

Construction work will commence on the first 10 of the expressway links totalling 551km between now and March 2021. In all, these 10 projects will cost over $5 billion.

    The authorities in China's Shanxi Province are investing heavily in highway expansion. By the end of 2012, the total highway/expressway network Shanxi Province will be some 5,000km. This will cost some US$15.85 billion for expressway construction during the year. A total of 23 expressway projects totalling 1,600km will be constructed during 2012. By the end of 2015, the total expressway distance in Shanxi Province should reach some 6,300km, from 4,000km in 2011.

    In China’s Hebei Province a total of US$14.93 billion will be invested in transport infrastructure during 2013. This will include 22 highways to allow the province to have highways totaling 5,587km by end-2013. As for ordinary trunk roads, maintenance is to be carried out on 247km of roads and works will commence on projects totaling 1,300km, with 300km to be ready for use by end-2013.
