A new bridge project for Mexico’s Cancun tourist resort is expected cost US$239 million. Federal funding is being sought for the project, which is being overseen by Agepro, the agency handling strategic projects in Mexico’s Quintana Roo State on the Yucatan Pensinsula. The bridge will span the Nichupte Lagoon and, depending on which alignment is utilised, will measure 7.5-8.4km in length. The bridge will connect Route 307, Colosio Boulevard, with Kukulcan Boulevard in the hotel zone, close to the Plaza Kukulcan. The project was to have commenced during 2019 but has been delayed. However tendering is now expected for 2020 and it is hoped that construction work for the project will also start in 2020. The necessary environmental permits for the project has been sourced already and design work is being carried out. A number of stidues for the project are being handled by Controladora de Operaciones de Infraestructura.
