A key road project in Kazakhstan is now benefiting from a major finance package being delivered. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is delivering a loan worth US$240 million for the project.

The finance package will help pay for rebuilding and maintenance work to the 204km road linking Jezkazgan (also known as Zhezgazan) and Kyzylorda, located in the south of the country. In addition, there are plans for a bypass measuring around 15km to be constructed around Kyzylorda.

The work will improve transport within Kazakhstan. As Kyzlorda lies close to Kazakhstan's southern border, the work will also help improve the country's transport connections with its neighbours.
