Kazakhstan road plan – budget secured

Kazakhstan has set a budget of US$1.08 billion that will be used to build new roads as well as to upgrade and maintain existing links. In all the country has 23 separate road projects planned, which will see improvements to 4,200km of roads in all. Tolling systems are being installed on three major routes.

    Kazakhstan has set a budget for road repairs of nearly US$167 million in a bid to ensure that its network remains in good condition. The country has set a target to repair and maintain around 5,000km of local roads/year. In 2017 around 2,000km of roads of national importance were repaired, while 1,800km of roads of national importance will be repaired in 2018.     Kazakhstan has increased the budget used for upgrading highways and building new links in a bid to improve the country’s transport network. The Kazakhstan Government boosted the investment in the highway system for 2016 by 35% over the previous year, reaching close to US$852 million. The country’s road development programme saw 3,200km of routes being rebuilt and improved.     A series of major road projects is being carried out in Panama. The Santiago-David road is being upgraded at present. The work has been split into five sections, with the entire project expected to cost US$1.08 billion. The plans are now being drawn up for the 40km section connecting San Juan and La Pita. This stretch of the project will cost $218.26 million to carry out.
