Indonesia’s new toll road link

Plans are moving ahead in Indonesia for the construction of the Kuala Tanjung toll road project. Financing has been secured for an 80km stretch of the route. This stretch will run from Terbanggi Besar, through Pematang Panggang to Kayu Agung and will cost around US$552.3 million to build. Plans are moving ahead in Indonesia for the construction of the Kuala Tanjung toll road project. Financing has been secured for an 80km stretch of the route. This stretch will run from Terbanggi Besar, through Pematang Panggang to Kayu Agung and will cost around US$552.3 million to build. The project for the Kuala Tanjung toll road includes a number of complext and costly elevated sections, between: Krian-Legundi, Bunder and Manyar (KLBM); Jakarta and Cikampek II Elevated; Batang and Semarang; Jakarta and Cikampek Sisi Selatan.

The Kuala Tanjung, Tebing Tinggi and Parapat toll road stretch is worth some $1.4 billion. This will connect with the Medan-Kualanamu to Tebing Tinggi and Belawan to Medan-Tj Morawa stretches. It will also join with the new port at Kuala Tanjung port and the Belawan port.

    The Indonesian government is looking to spend around US$385 million of a major loan from China to construct three toll roads in the islands of Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Java. The three toll roads are Cileunyi-Sumedang-Dawuan (Cisumdawu) of West Java, Balikpapan-Samarinda of East Kalimantan and Manado-Bitung of North Sulawesi. China recently announced it would lend Indonesia around $1.5 billion for infrastructure projects.
