Indonesia road repairs planned for 2019

A road repair and maintenance budget for 2019 has been set by Indonesia’s Ministry of Public Works and Housing. Some US$2.66 billion will be used to ensure that Indonesia’s major road and bridge links are maintained correctly. Bridge works figure largely in the plans for 2019.

    An impressive budget worth US$576 million has been set in Saudi Arabia for contracts to build 850km of new road and bridges. The budget was announced by the Transport Ministry of Saudi Arabia and the plan includes new roads in Baha and a deal to build the Haqv-Raith-Jella Al-Hayya road.     Construction work on Indonesia’s Sunda Straits Bridge is planned to start in 2014. The 40,000ha of land required for the project has been prepared by the government. The project forms part of a wider plan to boost the economy growth of Sumatra. The Public Works Ministry is preparing the road development master plan to link Aceh to Lampung.
