Indonesia: Jasa Marga secures four highway concession deals

Toll road operator Jasa Marga of Indonesia has added four contracts at a cost of nearly US$2.4 billion to its highway concession portfolio. Jasa Marga hold equity of between 55% and 65% in each project, according to a report by the Jakarta Post newspaper. Toll road operator 1083 Jasa Marga of Indonesia has added four contracts at a cost of nearly US$2.4 billion to its highway concession portfolio.

Jasa Marga hold equity of between 55% and 65% in each project, according to a report by the Jakarta Post newspaper.

The contracts are for the 40km Bitung-Manado Highway in Sulawesi, the 99km Samarinda-Balikpapan Highway in Kalimantan, the 38km Malang-Pandaan Highway in East Java and the 75km Semarang-Batang Highway in central Java.

Netherlands-based Indonesia Investments describes Jasa Marga as a state-controlled toll road operator that constructs and provides toll road services – around 73% of all toll roads.

Earlier this year, 1075 Trans Marga Jateng, the 60:40 joint venture of Jasa Marga and central Java's state-owned infrastructure firm Sarana Pembangunan Jawa Tengah, secured a 15-year loan from a group of lenders headed by state-owned bank Bank Mandiri.

The $415.45 million loan is for 75km toll road as part of the Trans Java toll road project. It will run from Solo to Semarang through Salatiga and Boyolali.

    Millions of US dollars are being poured into new and expanding toll road projects in Indonesia. Wijaya Karya (Wika), the Indonesian government-owned construction service provider, will build toll roads linking Kedung Badak to Kedung Halang and Pandaan to Gempol in Bogor through two contracts worth US$36.35million (IDR 340.80bn) and US$23.98million (IDR 225bn), respectively.     A loan facility has been secured which will help provide the necessary funding for a project planned by Waskita Toll Road in Indonesia.
