India is carrying out a massive bridge project.

Construction works are now set to go ahead on a massive bridge project In India. The building work will be carried out by the contractor, L&T Construction. The project will be for the longest bridge in India, spanning the Brahmaputra River. The 19km bridge will link Dhubri in Assam State with Phulbari in Meghalaya State. This will provide a direct road link between the Dhubri and Phulbari, reducing journey times considerably. At present the distance between the two by road is 250km.

    India’s Uttar Pradesh State has awarded a consultancy contract for two expressway projects. The two new routes are for the 150km Prayag Link Expressway and the 88.5km Gorakhpur Link Expressway. Both expressways are to be built with two lanes in either direction, although the designs of both will allow for an additional lane in either direction at a later point in time if required by traffic demand.
