India planning highway projects

India’s Maharashtra State is setting out a massive programme for infrastructure development. In all some US$47.08 billion of infrastructure works will be carried out. Transport development is a key priority, with a series of major highway construction projects now being planned.

    Mexico’s transport and communications ministry (SCT) looks set to open tenders for 258 highway projects in 2014. Tenders for 13 projects covering work to repair, upgrade and widen over 2,000km of roads have already been revealed.     Mexico is setting out an ambitious programme of infrastructure development to the Tehuantepec Isthmus area in Oaxaca State in the south of the country. The work will include widening and upgrading the Salina Cruz-Coatzacoalcos road link, as well as building the Matias Romero bypass and the Acayucan-La Ventosa road section. This infrastructure development plan is expected to cost just over US$425 million in all and also includes improvements to rail connections and ports in the area. Road maintenance works
