India approves 12 highway projects including in Goa and Nagaland

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways of India has announced the approval of 12 highway projects valued at nearly US$908 million. Projects are in the states of West Bengal, Maharashtra, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Goa, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. The project in West Bengal entails the four-laning of the Haldia from Kolaghat section of NH-41 in addition to the upgrade and rehabilitation of the Barhani-Kataya Chowk near the Shohratgarh section of NH-730. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways of India has announced the approval of 12 highway projects valued at nearly US$908 million.

Projects are in the states of West Bengal, Maharashtra, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Goa, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.

The project in West Bengal entails the four-laning of the Haldia from Kolaghat section of NH-41 in addition to the upgrade and rehabilitation of the Barhani-Kataya Chowk near the Shohratgarh section of NH-730.

There are three projects in Maharashtra involving the two- and four-laning of highway stretches.

In India’s extreme northeast, the states of Nagaland, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh are allocated four highway expansion projects, while in the south-western coastal state of Goa, the Margaon Western NH Bypass for the NH 17 is to be developed.

  • New India highway deal for Uttar Pradesh

    A new highway project is being planned for India’s Uttar Pradesh State. The US$522.7 million project will see a 100km section of the Hapur Bypass being widened, so that it will feature three lanes in either direction. This section of the route is from Moradabad to Hapur and the work will be carried out by IRB Infrastructure Developers. The contract was awarded by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) under the build, operate and transfer model.
