Work on the stretch connecting Ostrow Mazowiecka and Szczuczyn will be finished in 31 months.

The S-61, still under construction, runs from the Lithuanian border in the northeast, connecting Lituania’s A5 near Budzisko, to intersect express road S8 near Ostrów Mazowiecka. When finished it will be part of the Via Baltica – European Route E67.

The E67 runs from Prague in the Czech Republic to Helsinki in Finland by way of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. It goes via Prague, Wrocław, Warsaw, Kaunas, Panevėžys, Riga, Tallinn and Helsinki. However, only the 970km stretch between Warsaw and Tallinn is known as he Via Baltica.
