Funding for Australian road works

Funding has been secured for South Australian road works.

A major funding package will help pay for road works in South Australia. The financing is being provided by Australia’s Federal Government and is worth US$441 million (A$625 million).

Key works planned include road improvements in Hanhdorf in the Adelaide Hills area, with a budget of $141 million (A$200 million). Widening and upgrade work will also be carried out for the Main South Road linking Aldinga with Sellicks Beach, costing $96 million (A$136 million). A further $70.5 million (A$100 million) will be spent improving the historic Strzelecki Track, which crosses the Strzelecki Desert and stretches some 475km in all, connecting Lyndhurst with Innamincka.

    Financing worth US$150 million is being provided by the World Bank, which will be used to help pay for road development work in Mozambique. The funding will be aimed at upgrades to roads in Mozambique’s Nampula Province and Zambezia Province.
