Frankfurt highway section to run in tunnel

A tunnel has been proposed for a highway stretch in the German city of Frankfurt. The proposals put forward by the city authorities call for a 1km stretch of the A661 Autobahn to run in a cut and cover tunnel. The project would cost around €350 million and would allow housing to be built over the top of the route. A substantial portion of the funding would have to be sourced from the German Federal Government and the Hesse State Government for the project to go ahead however. If the proposals are accepted,

The proposals put forward by the city authorities call for a 1km stretch of the A661 Autobahn to run in a cut and cover tunnel. The project would cost around €350 million and would allow housing to be built over the top of the route. A  substantial portion of the funding would have to be sourced from the German Federal Government and the Hesse State Government for the project to go ahead however. If the proposals are accepted, the new link could be ready by 2028.

    The Czech Republic is setting out its programme to develop its road infrastructure network. The plans call for work to build 360km of roads and highways as well as maintaining existing stretches.     A new proposal for congestion charging in Los Angeles has been put forward as a possible solution to the city’s traffic woes. The CEO of the Los Angeles Metro system has suggested that a congestion charge for drivers could be used to allow riders to use the city’s transit system for free.
