Elevated expressway planned for Myanmar

An elevated expressway link is planned for Myanmar.

Tendering is underway for the elevated expressway project planned for Myanmar. Building the Yangon Elevated Expressway project is expected to cost US$900 million.

The tender process will remain open until 1st September 2020. So far 10 companies are expected to enter the bidding for the work.

The Yangon Elevated Expressway project will be 27.5km in length. Depending on the location, the route will be from 8-19.5m high. The route will feature two lanes in either direction.

The work will be handled under the PPP format. The project is being planned by jointly the Yangon Region Government and Myanmar’s Ministry of Construction.

    A major construction programme worth a total of US$2.5 billion is planned for Myanmar. The plans calls for the construction of some 54km of flyovers to be built in the city of Yangon, the country’s former capital. The Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC) has stated that the tender process for the project will be open to local and overseas companies. Private investment in the project is expected, with the tender due in the 2015-2016 financial year. Yangon is Myanmar’s largest city with an estimated popul
