In the latest round of applications for 3287 EU subsidies for road investments within the POPW programme for Eastern Poland, the province of Podlasie saw its projects among the most highly-rated. As a result, it is to receive almost PLN 400mn (EUR 93.59mn USD 110.06mn) of funding. Three projects are involved: rebuilding the road out of Bialystok in the direction of Warsaw, and modernising two sections of road, one from Zabludow to the border of the municipality and the other from Markowszczyzna to Lapy. Taking all road projects in Podlasie which are supported from EU funds, their total value is over PLN 1bn. The Podlaskie voivodeship alone accounts for PLN 950mn, or almost half of the funds in the Eastern Poland programme.
