The East of England venue is a permanent exhibition centre which has hosted other ‘big machine’ events such as LAMMA - for agricultural equipment - and Truckfest.

The past two editions of the biennial event were held at the Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground, near the town of Lutterworth in England. The 2017 show attracted 400 exhibitors and an attendance of around 13,000, according to the organisers, the 3418 Construction Equipment Association (CEA).

East of England has permanent indoor and outdoor exhibition facilities and areas for machine demonstration. Plantworx 2019 will occupy a gross area of around 200,000m² making it about 40% larger than the 2017 edition.

“The last Plantworx show was blighted by the weather, so we were looking for somewhere that would provide a good opportunity for a better exhibitor and visitor experience whatever the weather,” said Rob Oliver, chief executive of the CEA.

“Inside exhibitors can be accommodated in the purpose-built Arena and outside there are more permanent roadways and facilities for visitors. Good mobile phone and wifi facilities are also part of the package – plus it is just five minutes from the A1 [trunk road].”

“The length of this contract allows us to make sure that Plantworx can develop the show to its full potential and capitalise upon the many features and benefits we have to offer here at the East of England Arena,” said Dean Rees, EEAEC's business development manager. “We are thrilled that we will have the opportunity of hosting this amazing event until 2023.”

The CEA is the UK trade association for manufacturers, importers and distributors of construction equipment as well as and component, accessory and service suppliers.

Good, readable analysis of road surfaces to ensure sufficient maintenance funding is an essential part of asset management. The technical side of ensuring a good road surface is integral to maintaining safe, superior highway infrastructure. But securing sufficient government funding for such work – repairs and new-build – based on the current road surface is also essential. To evaluate road conditions and structure for such a business case, one UK local council turned to software provider Yotta.
