Costa Rica flyover project due for completion

The first section of a key road project in Costa Rica will be completed in late 2019. The work is for the 2.25km-long flyover on the Northern Ring Road (Circunvalacion Norte). This first section being opened will provide a connection between the Leon XIII and the Calle Blancos routes. The first section of a key road project in Costa Rica will be completed in late 2019. The work is for the 2.25km-long flyover on the Northern Ring Road (Circunvalacion Norte). This first section being opened will provide a connection between the Leon XIII and the Calle Blancos routes. The first four stages of the Circunvalacion Norte project are costing around US$163 million to construct, with the flyover stretch being the most costly and complex portion of the work.

Funding from the 863 Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) worth $70 million are expected to pay for the firth portion of the project. Construction of the entire Circunvalacion Norte project is expected to be complete in 2022.

    Work is now complete on a US$33.7 million highway project in Costa Rica. The work was carried out by Eurofinsa and involved upgrading Route 35, including building four bridges and two interchanges, one of which featured two overpasses.     Guatemala is planning to build a new bridge that will cost an estimated US$150 million. The plans call for the new Belice Bridge to be constructed alongside the existing structure. A portion of the funding would be provided in the form of a loan from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI). A design study could be carried out towards the end of 2018. Repairs are required to the existing BeliCe Bridge however and little interest has been received so far in the tender process for this work.
