Colombia Caribbean connections under construction

Colombia is working on plans to redevelop transport infrastructure in its Caribbean Region. In all nine road projects are underway, which will cost a total of US$2.8 billion. New highways will connect Cartagena with Barranquilla, Carreto with Cruz del Viso and Antioquia with Bolivar. Also being built area route running through Santa Marta Riohacha, Paraguachon and Cordoba-Sucre as well as part of the Ruta del Sol highway.

    Mott MacDonald is providing design work for 20km of the Loubiere to Bagatelle road rehabilitation project in Dominica. The client, Dominica’s ministry of public works, is repairing the route following significant damage by tropical storm Erika in 2015.     The Indian Government plans to build a new highway connecting Katra with New Delhi. The route will be some 600km long, running through Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir. A consultant is being selected to carry out a feasibility study for the project. The project will cost in the order of US$2.25 billion and will be of importance as Katra is where the Vaishno Devi holy shrine is located. The new link will reduce travel time on the route from 11-12 hours at present to five-six hours when the work is complete
