Colombia Caribbean connections under construction

Colombia is working on plans to redevelop transport infrastructure in its Caribbean Region. In all nine road projects are underway, which will cost a total of US$2.8 billion. New highways will connect Cartagena with Barranquilla, Carreto with Cruz del Viso and Antioquia with Bolivar. Also being built area route running through Santa Marta Riohacha, Paraguachon and Cordoba-Sucre as well as part of the Ruta del Sol highway.

    Japanese financing will help pay for new bridges in Nicaragua. The funding package is worth nearly US$43 million and is being provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).     Completion of construction work on Colombia Hisgaura Bridge will be achieved in July 2018. The new bridge will be the highest of the cable-stayed type in Latin America and forms part of the road connecting Malaga with Los Curos. The bridge measures 148.3m high by 653m long and work on its deck has been completed. The bridge has cost US$35.3 million to build, with the work being carried out by contractor Sacyr.
