China’s Hebei province developing transport infrastructure

China’s Hebei Province is planning a series of transport infrastructure improvements during 2019. Highway construction will be amongst the works being prioritised under the plan, which has a budget of over US$8 billion. In all, 1,172km of highway will be built in the province under the programme of works. During 2019, work will commence on six new highway stretches with a total length of 332km. A 217km stretch of highway under construction already will be opened to traffic in 2019, while work is continuing

Highway construction will be amongst the works being prioritised under the plan, which has a budget of over US$8 billion. In all, 1,172km of highway will be built in the province under the programme of works. During 2019, work will commence on six new highway stretches with a total length of 332km. A 217km stretch of highway under construction already will be opened to traffic in 2019, while work is continuing on an 840km highway. Once this programme of works is complete, Hebei Province will have a total of 7,840km of highways in all.

    The first stage of a controversial Russian bridge project is now complete, with the link having been opened to use by cars and buses. The Kerch Strait bridge spans the Black Sea, connecting Russia’s Taman Peninsula in Krasnodar with Crimea, the latter having been controversially annexed by Russia from Ukraine in 2014. The official opening of the 19km-long bridge was carried out by Russia’s president, Vladimir Putin, who drove across the link in a Russian-manufactured Kamaz truck to reach the city of Kerch.
