China Shandong nears final inking of Banja Luka-Prijedor contract

The final contract for the Banja Luka-Prijedor motorway in Bosnia will be signed with China Shandong International and Technical Cooperation in September. The final contract for the Banja Luka-Prijedor motorway in Bosnia will be signed with China Shandong International and Technical Cooperation in September.


The construction and 30-year operating concession is with Republika Srpska, an autonomous region of Bosnia e Herzegovina. Value of the contract is around €297 million, according to Nedjo Trninic, the minister of transport for Republika Srpska.

Funding will be secured by the Chinese company and in cooperation with Autoputevi RS, Republika Srpska’s highways directorate.

The announcement that China Shandong had won the 42km contract was made earlier this year. Completion is expected in 2023.

In November last year, Autoputevi RS signed an agreement with China Shandong for construction of the 80km Banja Luka-Prijedor-Novi Grad motorway, of which Banja Luka-Prijedor is the first phase.

    The China Communications Construction Company is to take part in the second and third construction phases of Tehran’s north highway project. A memorandum of understanding signed earlier this year marks the first time a Chinese contractor has worked in Iran.
