Chile is planning a series of road improvements that will help boost connectivity. An additional budget of US$150 million has been secured by Chile’s Ministry of Public Works (MOP), in addition to the $1.4 billion already budgeted for road works. Approval has been given in Germany for an upgrade to an important stretch of the autobahn network. The A4 linking Dresden with Bautzen will be widened along an 86km stretch. The aim of the work is to boost capacity as the section now handles increasing volumes of heavy truck traffic. The work is expected to cost €1.2 billion. Although this section of autobahn is comparatively new, the improvement work will add the extra capacity now needed due to the truck traffic between Germany and Poland. Bautzen lies close to Germany’s border with southern Poland and the city of Legnica.
