LINK 427 has been selected for the US$457 million design, build, finance and maintain contract for the Highway 427 Expansion project in Ontario province.

The LINK team consists of 917 ACS Infrastructure Canada, 4761 Dragados Canada, Bot Infrastructure, Brennan Infrastructures, MMM Group and Thurber Engineering.

The project, in the Toronto area, includes a new 6.6km extension of Highway 427 from Highway 7 to Major Mackenzie Drive and widening of 4km from Finch Avenue to Highway 7.

Work includes building three interchanges and median high occupancy toll lanes. The project is expected to start later this year and wrap up in 2021.

Highway 427 - a 400-series highway - connects the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) and Gardiner Expressway with Highway 7 by way of Highway 401. It is Ontario's second busiest freeway by volume – around 300,000 vehicles daily - and third busiest in North America, behind Highway 401 and Interstate 405 in California.

Some of the route is divided into a collector-express system with 12-14 continuous lanes and there are several multi-level interchanges. The junctions with QEW and Highway 401 are two of the largest interchanges in Ontario and were constructed between 1967-71.

Highway 427 is also the main feeder to Toronto Pearson International Airport.

Meanwhile, ACS, has completed nearly $269 million of financing for work within the LINK consortium for construction and operation of Highway 427.
