The road will link to the 3.9km bridge spanning the Tonle Sap River. Financing for the project is being secured, with the Cambodian authorities in discussions with the 2719 Chinese Government over a loan to help pay for the work.

A new 500m bridge spanning the Tonle Sap River where it passes by capital Phnom Penh was constructed in 2018. This was closed for maintenance for two weeks in July 2019. Building the bridge cost $35 million and the project was funded by the Overseas Cambodia Investment Corporation (OCIC).
