Cambodia road reconstruction projects, financing secured

Financing has been secured for key road reconstruction projects in Cambodia. Work is being carried out on six road projects in the country that measure a total of 600km, as well as a bridge, with this all costing some US$490 million. A loan of $94 million will help pay for the rebuilding of Cambodia’s National Road No 11 as well as a stretch of bypass. Financing has been secured for key road reconstruction projects in Cambodia. Work is being carried out on six road projects in the country that measure a total of 600km, as well as a bridge, with this all costing some US$490 million. A loan of $94 million will help pay for the rebuilding of Cambodia’s National Road No 11 as well as a stretch of bypass. In all 96.5km of road will be rebuilt for this project, with the work intended to improve transport connections between Thbong Khmum Province and Prey Veng Province. In addition to the loan from China, Cambodia’s Government will provide financing for the work.

Chinese funding will also help pay for rebuilding work for Cambodia’s National Road No 3 as well as a 187km ring road around the nation’s third city. This project is expected to cost $483 million. So far 23 Cambodian road projects that extend a total of 2,300km and are worth $1.3 billion have benefited from Chinese financing. In addition, seven bridges have been built at a cost of $216 million.
