Building links to Paraguay’s new bridge

New road connections will have to be built for the second Parana River crossing in Paraguay. In all around 37km of new road connections will be required, costing US$180 million. This work will also require the construction of two smaller bridges as well as an overpass section. Financing for the work is being provided via the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF).

    A report from the European Court of Auditors has highlighted the high cost of building roads in Latin America. The report states that it costs seven times more to build roads in Latin America than in Europe. The study compared 24 road projects across Europe and Latin America that were carried out between 2000 and 2013.     A Mexican contractor is now carrying out construction work on a new 8km road tunnel in the country’s Guerrero State. The project is expected to cost some US$272.6 million. The work is being carried out by the contractor ICA. The project will help improve connectivity for Acapulco. The country is pushing through a series of major infrastructure works in order to improve connectivity.
