Budget for Russia-China road links

Plans are being drawn up in Russia for the road links that will connect with Western China. The work will include rebuilding existing links as well as building new roads, with completion expected by 2024. Four separate road projects are being prioritised. One route will include a highway through Kazan while another will see the construction of a new tolled highway.

    New state-owned roads are opening in Russia for 2019. The state-owned road firm Avtodor is to see its network grow by 202km by the end of 2019. The key link opening for traffic will be the new M11 highway connecting capital Moscow with St Petersburg. The final stretches of the M11 are now being finished. Of the 202km to be finished by the end of 2019, around 56km have been built already and 103km will be completed shortly.     A second movable scaffold system (MSS) is on its way from China to the UK town of Halton, as part of the Mersey Gateway Project, a toll bridge over the Mersey River in England. The machine will be used to build the south elevated approach viaduct that will connect the main road network in the town of Runcorn to the Mersey Gateway Bridge, now under construction.
