Budget for Russia-China road links

Plans are being drawn up in Russia for the road links that will connect with Western China. The work will include rebuilding existing links as well as building new roads, with completion expected by 2024. Four separate road projects are being prioritised. One route will include a highway through Kazan while another will see the construction of a new tolled highway.

Some US$601 million has been budgeted for the work during 2010, with surfacing work being a key priority. To fund the construction project, the Ugandan Government has been seeking a loan worth US$210 million from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).   • Nicaragua road widenging and repair budgets

    Nicaragua’s capital Managua is to benefit from a project to widen and upgrade the Pista Juan Pablo II road. Funding is being provide from a number of sources. The European Investment Bank (EIB) is providing US$136 million while the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) is providing $105.5 million. The council of Managua meanwhile will provide $33.4 million. The work will see upgrades to 9.55km of the route, which also includes building new flyover sections.
