Concern is being expressed in Brazil with regard to an important road project planned for Santa Catarina State. The work is being managed by the Brazilian road firm, Arteris. The Contorno Viario de Florianopolis project is for a 59km stretch of expressway. But Brazil’s Auditors Court (TCU) is expressing concern over the cost of the US$964.2 million project.

When the new expressway is built, it will reduce congestion on a stretch of the BR 101, which currently suffers from congestion and traffic delays. The concerns over the cost mean that the project is facing extra scrutiny at present.
