Bosnia tunnel project; work starting

Construction work is due to start on the Prenj Tunnel project in Bosnia. The tunnel will form part of the important Corridor 5C route. Measuring 10km in length, the road and tunnel project is expected to cost €820 million to build. Construction work is due to start on the Prenj Tunnel project in Bosnia. The tunnel will form part of the important Corridor 5C route. Measuring 10km in length, the road and tunnel project is expected to cost €820 million to build. Funding is being supplied jointly by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The Bosnian Government has also secured a portion of the necessary funding from Bosnian banks.


In addition, a contract has been agreed for the construction of the Ivan Tunnel, which will also form part of the Corridor 5C route.  This is expected to cost €56.75 million to build. The financing for this tunnel section is being provided jointly by the EBRD and the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF). Construction should commence in early 2020 and is due for completion in 2022.

  • Serbia to tender for Nis-Pristina motorway by end of 2018

    The first tender for construction of the Nis-Pristina motorway could be called by the end of his year, according to Zorana Mihajlovic, Serbia’s minister of construction. Value of the first phase of the project is estimated at €240 million.   • Serbia reduces cost of highway construction

    Serbia has managed to reduce the cost of building the Corridor 10 highway by €80 million. These funds will instead be used to pay for upgrades and improvements needed for the second section of the highway project, close to Neradovci. So far some 180km of the Corridor 10 highway has been built over a 40 month time frame. A further 150km of the highway has still to be built. Work on the Corridor 10 motorway is also being financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the state budget.
