Bosnia road financing solutions being discussed

Bosnia is investigating a series of road financing solutions. The country intends to borrow €150 million to construct the Corridor 5C highway project. A loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is expected to provide much of the financing required, however the terms have still to be finalised.

    Construction work is now going ahead on the Suhodol-Tarcin section of Bosnia’s Corridor Vc highway. The Bosnian Government and highway company Autoceste FBiH Mostar signed a contract with Turkish company Cengiz Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret for this section of the Corridor Vc highway. The deal is worth €115.2 million and will be for construction of a total of 5km of the motorway. The work is expected to take 28 months to complete.   • Polish capital route project being planned

    Route reviews are being carried out for a key Polish project. Poland’s highways authority, GDDKiA, is analysing the four potential routes for the S10 road, which will connect with Warsaw’s outer ring road, itself still to be completed. The different routes have estimated costs ranging from €5.34 billion to €5.99 billion and all connect with the A1, though at different intersections. Financing for the work should be secured by 2020, with tendering expected in 2025 and construction due to commence in 2026.

    Financing from Taiwan will help develop road infrastructure in Guatemala. Both the Taiwanese Government and private Taiwanese sources are supplying funding streams to Guatemala for transport infrastructure development. The Taiwanese Government is donating US$50 million to help improve the section of the Atlantico road connecting Sanarate and El Rancho.
