Bangladesh infrastructure – funding offer

Financing now looks to be secured for two major infrastructure projects in Bangladesh. The US$300 million Tamabil to Sylhet highway looks likely to receive a funding package from the Asian Infrastructure Development Bank (AIIB) in China. The feasibility study for the Shambhuganj Bridge also looks likely to receive funding from the AIIB.

    A finance package has been secured in Colombia for the Autopista al Mar 1 highway project. A loan worth close to US$206 million is being provided by the national development bank, Financiera de Desarrollo Nacional (FDN).     India’s Madhya Pradesh State is planning to improve connectivity to rural areas with a plan to improve rural roads. Funding for the work is being provided through a loan sourced from the Chinese Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). The loan is worth some US$140 million and will help pay for surfacing work to existing gravel roads and dirt roads. In addition, a road safety programme will be instituted across the state, using a portion of the loan.
