Bangladesh infrastructure – funding offer

Financing now looks to be secured for two major infrastructure projects in Bangladesh. The US$300 million Tamabil to Sylhet highway looks likely to receive a funding package from the Asian Infrastructure Development Bank (AIIB) in China. The feasibility study for the Shambhuganj Bridge also looks likely to receive funding from the AIIB.

    A key Kenyan highway project is being funded by Chinese sources. The JKIA-James Gichuru expressway in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi, is receiving a financing package worth US$505.5 million from China. The new expressway will be built by the Chinese contractor, China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC). The aim of the project is to reduce congestion on the existing Mombasa highway.
