BKT tyres re proving hard wearing for a difficult extraction application in the UK

Tough tyres from BKT are proving their worth on a difficult extraction site n the UK. The Littlejohns Pit is being worked by Brookland Sand & Aggregates Ltd of Saint Austell. The firm has sold over 2.3 million tonnes of sand and aggregates to both local and national customers since March 2010, showing a reach beyond Cornwall's borders. With one-third of its business run outside the county and a substantial sales volume in the London market as well, Brookland Sand & Aggregates Ltd has established itself as a key producer.

The company is using tyres from BKT on its heavy machines, which play key roles in the processing of Stent, a by-product of kaolin extraction, into secondary sand, and aggregates. This process helps to preserve natural resources and reduce environmental impact.

The BKT tyres are used on the firm’s wheeled loaders and dump trucks and have proven hard wearing in the difficult application. Wear life for the tyres is said to be good, while the units also ensure good traction.
