BKT now offers a new tyre for use on skid steer loaders

This tyre is suited to use with machines such as skid steer loaders and telehandlers used in road maintenance work or in waste material deposits.

In heavy-duty applications, tyres need extra protection against punctures and abrasion, while also needing to be able to carry heavy loads and maintaining stability. According to BKT, its SKID MAX SR-SKIDDER meets these requirements and offers long product life and high load capacity. The robust casing is equipped with an all-steel structure that has steel belts, providing greater resistance to punctures and cuts. The thick sides help to minimise the risk of punctures and damage and help to maximise machine uptime.

In addition, the SKID MAX SR-SKIDDER design has a guard that protects against any punctures and impacts, protecting the area around the rim. The robust and wide tread features a continuous central block, which boosts wear life and traction. At the same time, BKT says that this new tyre design offers ride comfort as well as stability for machine operators. The SKID MAX SR-SKIDDER tyre is currently available in the 260/70 R 12.5 (10 R 16.5) size.

Drive is hydrostatic, allowing full power in turns, as well as fine control for fine grading or slope duties. The dozer is equipped as standard with machine control technology from Leica Geosystems, with whom Case CE has a partnership. Customers have a choice of 2D or 3D pack
  • Beijing airport runway features novel asphalt solution
    December 7, 2017
Beijing ranks amongst the five busiest airports across the globe and its runway surfaces face tough stresses as a result. Over 94 million passengers flew through Beijing Capital Airport (BCA) in 2016 and as many as 70 flights/hour can take off and land during peak times. The 60m-wide middle runway of Beijing Capital International Airport is the busiest of the three runways, with a landing and take-off flight ratio of up to 40%. This runway was first rehabilitated in 1996 and then repaired in 2013 and 2015

This is based on soil compactor technology, with the key feature being the innovative detachable tools. The idea behind the concept is that a large single drum roller can be used both for crushing and compacting rock. HAMM first unveiled its prototype in 2013 but has been developing and improving the system in a series of trials
  • Act FAST when it comes to bridge maintenance, argues Cliff Weston
    February 27, 2017
Deck waterproofing remains critical to a bridge’s structural integrity for its design life, explains Cliff Weston, director of Stirling Lloyd To properly maintain deck waterproofing there must be a willingness to look at solutions based on whole-life costing rather than just short-term initial costs. There are lessons to be learned from examples of prematurely failed infrastructure due to a focus on initial short-term costs.
