To mark an association stretching back more than 20 years, 2304 ZF-Passau has received an award from 236 Hyundai Heavy Industries.

ZF is a leading worldwide automotive supplier for driveline and chassis technology, and its ZF Division Off-Road Driveline Technology and Axle Systems specialises in the development and production of transmissions and axles for agricultural and construction machines as well as axle systems for buses and trucks.

Hyundai Heavy Industries, the South Korean construction equipment manufacturer, has used ZF products for more than 20 years, and by presenting ZF with the Hyundai Appreciation Award it "expresses high esteem for the trustful cooperation with ZF-Passau." Hyundai's senior executive vice president, Byeong-Ku Choe, presented the award to Dr Manfred Schwab, group executive of ZF-Passau.

Dr Schwab said: "Currently Hyundai equips nearly all wheel loaders, mobile excavators and lift trucks with ZF transmissions and axles, which are almost exclusively produced and assembled in Passau." The company also reported that its stand at Bauma was a "complete success with 30 machines being sold from the stand." Dealers ordered another 100 machines.

"The new 9 series aroused considerable interest and positive feedback," said marketing manager Michel de Weert. "In addition, with the new 22tonne rehandling excavator R210W-9MH, the 30tonne R290LC-9LR with long reach feature and the 50tonne demolition excavator R520LC-9 DM, Hyundai has penetrated promising new market segments and will continue to expand these activities." The newly-developed wheel loaders with load sensing technology and new driver's cab also created a great deal of attention, he said.

Efficient new soil compaction machines featuring the latest technology are now coming to market – Mike Woof reports The start of 2014 has seen a major development for the construction equipment sector, with the Tier 4 Final emissions requirements at last beginning to take effect. The implications of the drive towards the introduction of low emission engine technology have been seen right across the off-highway machinery equipment industry, and the soil compaction segment is no exception.

Will increased ADT load capacity provide a suitable solution to increasing aggregate and earthmoving haulage needs? Mike Woof reports The rule of thumb with off-highway machinery is that for bulk operations, larger equipment can deliver economies of scale, with bigger payloads allowing a better cost/tonne. Heavier machines may be less versatile than more compact units, so a type of equipment that retains its versatility as it is scaled up in size can offer major benefits. For the articulated dumptruc

Volvo CE says that lowering fuel consumption will tackle fleet costs and deliver environmental benefits for its customers, Mike Woof reports. Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) is targeting fuel economy and performance with its latest generation of machines. The new L180F and L220F wheeled loader models are being fitted with the sophisticated OptiShift package, which will boost operation and driveline efficiencies and cut fuel consumption by 15%, and more in some instances.

Volvo Construction Equipment’s latest H-Series wheeled loaders give a high performance in heavy-duty operations. All the machines - L150H, L180H, L180H HL (High-Lift), L220H and L250H - are equipped with Volvo’s OptiShift technology. Volvo says this eliminates power loss in the torque converter and reduces fuel consumption by up to 18%. Combined with Volvo CE’s patented Reverse By Braking (RBB) technology, OptiShift boosts productivity and efficiency in all applications. RBB is ideal for short cycl
