Durable drives from Continental

Continental says it has developed an innovative chassis system for compact loaders.
February 3, 2020 Read time: 1 min
The new chassis system for compact loaders features a track with rubber drive lugs

The track has drive lugs made of solid rubber instead of a conventional track drive with rubberised metal ribs. The vibration of a conventional metal-on-metal track drive can generate noise levels and lead to a jerky drive for the operator, while limiting speed and resulting in premature component wear because of high local stresses. Compared with a metal-on-metal track featuring rubberised metal ribs, this new design is said to achieve optimised load distribution and enable low vibration and low-noise operation. Overall system lifetime is also said to be longer because the drive lugs are made of solid rubber.

Sandvik is rolling out a range of sophisticated tunnelling jumbo drilling rigs, equipped with advanced automation features. The new DTi models feature wide coverage and powerful HX5T drifters that enable them to carry out large and small and tunnelling jobs. To optimise operation, the four machines can use Sandvik's latest iSURE software, which allows blasting operations to be designed on a PC and then downloaded onto the rigs using conventional USB memory sticks: this allows full automation of the face dri

    February 15, 2012
2011 has already seen a host of new machine introductions among compact equipment makers, and we take a look at some of them in the utility sector With emissions legislation dominating the introduction of new machines over 130kW, smaller equipment has not been overlooked. Most firms have been working feverishly to produce quieter, more economical and more productive equipment and Japanese maker Takeuchi is a good example, having recently introduced a new 8.5 tonne midi excavator.

    April 20, 2016
Changing the hydraulic fluid is not usually the first thought that comes to mind when looking to improve the performance of machines, but can in fact lead to up to 30% lower fuel consumption under extreme conditions, claims Evonik Industries. Hydraulic fluids featuring Evonik's DYNAVIS technology, such as those from Total and Indian Oil, are able to offer this and other benefits. When compared with hydraulic equipment operating with conventional monograde hydraulic fluids, DYNAVIS-formulated hydraulic
