German engine manufacturer 201 Deutz says that following an excellent start to the year and a growing order book, it passed another milestone.

In late May, the 2 millionth engine came off the assembly line in Cologne-Porz, which was commissioned in 1993. The model 1013 engine is one of many DEUTZ engines manufactured in Porz, which are used in applications such as construction equipment.

Since 2010, the assembly line in Porz has been more closely linked to its logistic supply chain. Components are now received directly from the JIS assembly centre near the plant. This means a significant reduction in the large number of separate components, which the Tier 4 emissions standard in particular, had obliged the assembly line to hold.
